I was injured in a carjacking September 11, 2021. I was renting a car, left it idling to grab order food quickly and within a minute a thief jumped in the car. When I was holding on to the door to try and open it , the car thief sped off. I was dragged/thrown in the process (it happened really fast so I can’t really remember). I was told by the rental company that I wouldn’t be able to file a claim and that I was on my own. I had a torn pcl and a sprained MCL and couldn’t walk on my own for a while. I also had pain in my shoulder and my back and constant migraines. 3 weeks after the incident, I was referred to this law firm and spoke to M. Aftab Alam. He told me it would be difficult because they didn’t catch the guy so we couldn’t sue the perps insurance etc. But he told me he’d do his best and help. The incident ended up taking a toll on my mental health and finances and through it all, Yamini (his assistant I believe) and Aftab answered all of my questions in a timely manner. At the beginning of March , I made the decision to settle. I was in debt , and I was debt free before the car jacking and I just wanted to get my life on track again. M. Aftab Alam understood and negotiated with the insurance company. The reason why I was so adamant about settling was because I was under the assumption we were only suing for medical and due to the insurance making it hard to get the help I needed approved , I just wanted to heal on my own. Anyways , Mr. Alam was able to get all outstanding medical covered and I was content and happy to move forward from this. Fast forward to yesterday , March 29th. I had my final meeting with Mr. Alam. After showing me a breakdown of all the fees and where they were being allocated to , he told me that I would be receiving the remaining balance. I was shocked , and I actually broke down in tears. I literally thought I wouldn’t get anything and he truly fought for me to get something. Overall as stressful as this ordeal has been , this firm truly helped me and I’m very happy.
